This series of four classes contains a lot of new material to help you learn each aspect of painting landscapes from beginning to end. Each class begins with a short teaching time followed by a demonstration to illustrate what we covered. Then the participants can work on their own painting with plenty of one-on-one instruction.
There are four primary visual elements that grab and hold the eye; knowing these and how to use them effectively will help you design and do better paintings. This session begins with some helpful thoughts on painting from photos, laying out your palette and creative approaches to begin a painting.
Learn some creative approaches to starting your painting. The block-in, when we lay in those first layers of value and color, can be a lot of fun. Even creatively toning your canvas can make a huge difference.
Learning to simplify what we see and convert it to paint lies at the heart of what we do as artists. Learn simple ways to keep things simple.
Learn the fine art of using color with flare. This involves learning how to use neutrals and grays, how to transition colors within a shape and how to get the most out of your highlights.
